Collaborative Law

We also handle Collaborative Law cases. Collaborative Law is an alternative way of getting divorced. Parties that choose this method may retain attorneys that practice collaborative law. Instead of litigating a divorce case, filing motions, or using the Court's involvement to make decisions pertaining to your divorce, the parties and their lawyers agree to work together at their own agreements. In fact, both the parties and their attorneys will execute a participation agreement stating that neither party will go to Court.

The goal of Collaborative Law is to reach your own agreement privately by arranging meetings among the attorneys and parties in a conference room instead of having your case presented in a hearing. Hearings are typically held before a judge in a courtroom full of people but none of this takes place in cases done collaboratively.

Collaborative Law aims at focusing on the future and the idea is to refrain from bringing up negative experiences between the parties which can sometimes make litigation cases more difficult for everyone. In this model we try to assist the parties in making decisions pertaining to the co-parenting of their children. We also help people find resources such as parenting consultants and financial planners which might aid them in making more informed decisions and helping them focus on their goals and objectives for the future. In this method the parties have greater control over their divorce than Courts do.
